1814: Joseph Nicephore Niepce- creates camera obscura which takes 8 hours of light exposure but print fades
1834: Louis Daguerre- Daguerreotype which didn't fade but only had one copy
1840: Alexander Wolcott- first American patent for his camera (the first camera were prints didn't fade)
1841: William Henry Talbot- patents Calotype which is the first negative- positive process and was able to create multiple copies
1850: Frederick Scott Archer- Collodion process (wet- plate process)
1853: Adolphe- Alexandre Martin- created the Tintype
1855: Frederick Scott Archer- invented Ambrotypes which were used for glass negatives. Collodion image is positive rather than negative
1871: Richard Leach Maddox- invented the gelatin dry plate silver bromide process (negatives no longer had to be developed right away)
1884: George Eastman- invents flexible paper based photographic film
1888: George Eastman- patents Kodak roll- film camera
1898: Reverend Hannibal Goodwin- patents celluloid photographic film
1900: Eastman- first mass marketed camera The Brownie
1935: Eastman Kodak- markets Kodachrome film
