How to make a Print:
What you need:
- Negatives
- Darkroom
- Enlarger
- Proof Printer
- Easel
- Grain Finder (only if applicable)
How to use an enlarger:
**all numbers with a double star mean that they are interchangeable due to what type of print you are making. Contact sheets: require proof printer, 5 seconds of time, negatives directly on the paper itself. Contact Prints: require proof printer, 20 seconds of time, negative of print directly on top of paper to make a positive. Test strips: (to help determine the correct aperture and time so that you don't waste paper) require easel, negative in negative carrier, 2 second intervals.

In order to make a print you have to know the basics of an enlarger and the tools that go along with it. An enlarger is a machine invented so that film could become smaller along with the cameras themselves. The enlarger allowed photographers to "enlarge" their small negatives. Get to know the enlarger you are going to be working with before you start because you need to be best of friends in order to create your masterpiece print!
